In the event of a service cancellation or a significant delay, passengers who wish to use a reserved seat for another train may change to a new ticket at the ticket office for the same day, the same section, and the same type of reserved seat. In this case, we can make ticket changes even if your reserved-seat ticket has already been changed once.
If the reserved seats on the new train are full and there are no other options, we will change your ticket to a non-reserved seat or standing ticket and refund half of the Ltd. Express fare, full amount of the First Class (Green Car) fare, Gran Class fare, and sleeper train fare (for Tokaido, Sanyo, Kyushu, and Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen, this applies to Ltd. Express fare and First Class (Green Car) fare for the section of the train to which you are changing).
Please note that discount tickets and tourist pass for visitors travelling to Japan from overseas and tickets issued through travel agencies may be handled differently. We ask for your understanding in advance.
